I have a strong commitment to ethical practice. I am fully accredited by the IACP in Ireland, and was previously accredited by UKCP while based in London. I undergo supervision to ensure the efficacy and unbiased focus of my practice and I attend CPD sessions whenever possible both to keep up to date and to learn new skills.
My therapy experience includes:
- Long term psychotherapy and short term counselling over the past 9 years
- Solution Focused therapy (8-18 weeks) for the UK National Health Service and Waterloo Community Counselling with English, Spanish and Portuguese speakers
- Voluntary work with Piccadilly Drop In Service, Maytree Suicide Respite, Simon Community
- 3 months with patients in 2 West African (Togolese) hospitals as part of the Psychology & Psychiatry team
- 1 month of counselling overseas prisoners in Lome Central Prison
- 100+ hours of psychiatric observation and input in the UK
- Couples workshop facilitator using Imago Relationship Therapy
- NLP and CBT focused coaching/therapy sessions i.e., PTSD following car accidents, or coaching for career direction etc
- Formerly part of core accredited team of counsellors at Let’s Get Talking Galway, conducting assessments, inputting into centre decisions and mentoring new trainees
- Frequently manage research projects relating to mental health or psychological barriers to behavioural change (such as for Women in Sport, Sporting Equals, Keep Britain Tidy, etc)
With regard to non-talking therapies, I am trained, qualified and insured to conduct healing, aromatherapy and reflexology sessions and can make tailored products for individuals under the guidance provided by my aromatherapy diploma.
